 | Melt conveying systems can become clogged up with dirt particles and foreign bodies when recycled or contaminated resins are processed. Breakdowns can only be avoided by installing a mechanical melt filtering system in front of very sensitive distribution system, a hotrunner channel, for example. Filter cartridges, fitted into the central sprue bush of a hotrunner block, prevent production down times due to clogged nozzles during injection mould production.
The filter cartridges Z 109/... known up to now operate on the principle of forced flow hole grooves. A totally new filter, also fitted in the central distribution nozzle, operates according to the barrier principle. Along approx. 80% of the filter length, the resin flows through a groove system with three different gap sizes of 0,35, 0,45 and 0,5 mm.
In this manner, even shear-sensitive and modified masses with low pressure losses and reduced friction loads can be filtered sensitively. Cleaning the filter cartridge is not a problem due to the design and can be carried out quickly within fixed maintenance intervals.
