Screw-on Hydraulic Needle Valve Z10790/...

Ready-to-install hot runner systems H4015/... are very popular because they are custom manufactured, assembled and wired ready for the mould maker to place into the mould. All the function tests have already been made and no more electrical installation by specialized personnel is necessary. HASCO warrants the dimensional stability, correct wiring and freedom from leaks between the nozzle and the manifold for such a system.

With the new screw-on needle valve Z10790/..., HASCO now offers the advantages of valve gate solutions for ready-to-install systems. The needle valve is screwed directly underneath the manifold block and forms a fixed unit with the H4015/.... A titanium plate insulates the housing from the heat radiation of the manifold block.

The valve housing is also equipped with an active cooling., and due to the screw connection with the block, the needle is not exposed to any radial load from the heat expansion. Since the needle is twist-locked, it can be easily contoured. It can also be adjusted from the back or even replaced with the housing screwed on.

The valve gate is based on the Techni Shot nozzle series Z33../... and provides an optimum melt flow with low shearing stress and a needle stroke of up to 17 mm. The hydraulic actuation can be set to achieve high forces as necessary.

This reliable solution extends the range of application of the wired systems considerably, and offers the user great process reliability and product quality.

HHASCO Universal needle valve Z10710/..., unlimited flexibility

Conventional single-shot needle valve solutions that are commonly used in the hot runner zone impose a variety of restrictions on the user and frequently lead to problems in practical application. Splitting of the melt produces weld lines on flat surfaces, the choice of nozzle lengths and diameters are limited, and it's not possible to directly transfer the results gained from single-cavity development moulds to their multi-cavity counterparts because the nozzle type varies, and because the size of the conventional single shot needle valve systems result in a large overall installation height demanding larger mould configurations.

With its new Z10710/... Universal needle valve unit, HASCO has created an amazingly simple solution addressing these problems. The basic concept for the needle valve system is focused on a universal and modular design.

The needle drive unit is available in two standard sizes and can be combined with all HASCO Techni Shot and Valve Shot nozzles. This offers the user a very wide choice of nozzle type and size, allowing runner diameters and nozzle lengths (up to 300mm) to be optimised, as well as flexibility in the design of the needle guide and gating solutions. Technical applications with varying article weights and fillers are just as easy to realise for both packaging and medical applications. The system is extremely compact and can be easily integrated into small moulds with reduced build height.

A major advantage of the Z10710/... is that the unit can be used either as a single nozzle centrally mounted in the middle of the mould - or as a drive unit mounted between the manifold and nozzle. This means that the findings obtained in pre-production and prototype moulds with a specific type of nozzle configuration can be transferred without risk into a multi-cavity production mould. It's even possible to carry over the hot runner components, reducing the cost of gaining vital development knowledge before committing to the production mould.

When the Z10710/... is positioned between the manifold and the nozzle head, the unit has the added advantage that axial thermal expansion of the manifold block has no influence whatsoever on the valve pin position, thus preventing any needle deflection. The optimum L/D ratio through the short needle length extends the service life of the needle and gate aperture.

Priority has also been given to flexibility when it comes to the choice of drive unit. The Z10710/... can be activated either pneumatically through special cylinders mounted outside the mould, whereby the needle position can be finely adjusted at the cylinder, or hydraulically through ultra-compact hydraulic drive solutions integrated inside the mould.

The valve pin stroke can be varied with both drive solutions in a range of 2 to 17mm. This means that the Z10710/... can be geared to suit to the application and the respective nozzle type.

The rotational position of the needle valve is accurately fixed, allowing cavity form contours to be included on the pin.

From a rheological point of view, the new HASCO Universal needle valve Z10710/... also has a lot to offer. There is no splitting of the melt which means that weld lines that are a particular nuisance on flat visible parts can be completely avoided in combination with the suitable HASCO nozzle type. Generously designed melt channels ensure the pressure losses in the system are kept to a minimum. Guiding of the melt is soft without any dead spots, thus preventing shear and material degradation.

When designing the Z10710/..., particular importance was attached to a homogeneous, symmetrical temperature profile. The Z10710/... can also be used for glass fibre-reinforced plastics, which are particularly demanding from the processing point of view.

A particularly interesting field of application with the Z10710/... is in stack and tandem moulds. With the needle valve drive system positioned between the nozzle and manifold, back-to-back arrangements with individual needle drives are easily accommodated. The overall height of the centre of the stack (gate-to-gate distance) can be reduced to 250mm.

Priority has also been placed on ease of maintenance with the Z10710/... The heating unit, temperature sensors and needle guide element are very simple to replace if necessary.

Z 3240/... Compact Shot Valve Gate Nozzle

Z 3240/... Compact Shot Valve Gate Nozzle

The Compact Shot Z3210/... series which has been proven in manifold applications and allows small installation spaces is extended with a new variant Z3240/... with valve gate. Internal gate positions in long and narrow articles or narrow pitch centres can be achieved with the process reliability of a valve gate solution. The needle valve guarantees optimum post-pressure transmission and avoids stringing and poor gate quality.

The fit diameter of the front nozzle tip is just 7 mm, with a 14 mm diameter hole over the body length. Lengths are available up to 180mm making this nozzle ideal for gate locations in restricted areas of the article.

The Z3240/... is particularly suitable for processing polyolefins and styrenes in a shot weight range of 2-20g. With a homogeneous temperature profile and high pressure resistance, other plastics can also be processed reliably - please consult with your HASCO Application Engineering for details.

The nozzle is offered in two different designs. One variant for the standard assembly, the other for front assembly in which the nozzle can be changed completely on the machine.

Due to the special design of the nozzle tip, a needle valve stroke of only 3 mm is required and the tip remains in the guide throughout the entire stroke. The wear on the needle guide is therefore reduced to an absolute minimum, the life of the gate prolonged considerably and expensive repairs to the inserts avoided.

The needle consists of an easily replaceable standard ejector Z40/1,5 x...., which is mounted floating in the plate package with a special holder to compensate the heat expansion of the hot runner. This reduces the radial load of the needle to a minimum and prevents the needle breaking.

The preferred needle drive is by a plate package which is controlled by the specially developed cylinder Z2370 that can be actuated hydraulically or pneumatically. This cylinder is connected to the drive plate package simply via the adapter provided.

No compromises are made in quality: - In addition to a long lasting heater, only high quality materials are used for the nozzle body, needle, needle guide and drive components. All components are made to the finest of tolerances.

The New Quattro Nozzle Z3280/...

The New Quattro Nozzle Z3280/...

The new Quattro nozzle Z3280/... brings together the advantages of a single and multi-tip nozzle, and makes a major contribution to the low-cost production of complex manifold systems. This is achieved by combining four modified Compact Shot nozzles Z3210/... into one strong carrier unit. The cluster arrangement of Compact Shot nozzles enable the production of high-precision plastic articles in a confined space.

This configuration also allows individual regulation of gates, and is extremely maintenance-friendly due to its modular structure. Replacement of the nozzle tip, heating and thermal sensor from the front is now easy. The Z3280/... has a nest spacing of approx. 13 mm.

The narrow arrangement of the nozzles in groups of four can be applied to the cavity insert in the same way, and with four cavities in one insert the tooling costs are reduced considerably. By managing the melt distribution accurately in the new Quattro nozzle head, the main hot runner manifold is easy to produced as well.

Why don't you make your high cavity moulds simpler too!
