As a strong, leading international supplier of modular standard components and accessories, HASCO is constantly working on new solutions for mould-makers. An important area of innovation concerns the steel used to make the tools and moulds. HASCO pays maximum attention to continuous stress minimisation from the initial production of the steel to the final machining of the plates.
The extensive plate program, especially in the P1 range, has now been supplemented by a new pre-hardened steel, 1.2714HH. This pre-hardened EU tool steel has excellent dimensional stability and toughness. With a maximum hardness of 400 HB, it makes for optimum processing properties, for example with regard to machinability. Mould-builders benefit from the excellent material properties especially with regard to machining, welding, surface coating and use in injection moulding tools. Other applications for the material include the efficient production of cavity inserts, cores and sliders.
Along with high dimensional stability, the 1.2714HH steel also has excellent wear resistance, and very good polishing and etching properties. It can be nitrided, and coated at temperatures below 510 °C, and also has good thermal conductivity. The consistent quality, optimum machine allowances and the ready-to-use hardness allow more effective, time-saving working. Performance is enhanced even further by the high precision machining and surface quality, as well as the plane-parallelism. The tolerances are geared to modern manufacturing techniques.
