The annual Sauerland Run marks a fixed date in the diaries of a number of customers and employees of HASCO, the modular mould component producer. Even before the tour has got started, participants are eagerly anticipating where the route will be going and what the programme holds in store for them.
By popular request, the main destination and highlight of this year's tour was to be the Willingen Bike Week once again. Midway through July, the focus at this 40,000 m2 festival site is on motorbikes and the Harley-Davidson cult brand.
The 2018 tour started when the crew met up at the HASCO premises on the Friday and enjoyed a comprehensive guided tour of the company. After a brief technical discussion of the latest product and service innovations, the group travelled together to Hagen to pick up the bikes. The Harleys were all lined up next to one another, awaiting their riders – a fascinating sight and a special moment that would be sufficient to send any biker's pulse racing.
The first 60-kilometre stage from Hagen to Sondern am Biggesee gave participants the opportunity to familiarise themselves with their bikes. Over dinner together at the scenically located Hotel am See, the group chatted about their motorbikes and their work.
Following a hearty biker breakfast, the tour continued on through the delightful Sauerland landscape on the Saturday morning. As far as HASCO is concerned, the Sauerland Run does, after all, mark a kind of commitment to its location and origins. On the way to the Biker Week, participants stopped off at the American Cafe & Restaurant Geronimo on Lake Möhnesee. And the destination of the next stage: Willingen.
After a final lunch on the Sunday and the return journey to Lüdenscheid, a certain feel of nostalgia was perceptible in the air. It's over already! These had been three exciting, intensive HASCO biker days offering participants a wealth of experiences, interesting conversations and a lively exchange of information.
