The training and promotion of young talent is of major importance for HASCO, the German manufacturer of standard mould units based in Lüdenscheid/Germany. As the leading international supplier of modular standardised components and accessories for tool and mould making, the company is dependent on the skills and industry-specific expertise of their employees. Only in this way is HASCO able to consistently meet its claim "Enabling with system", and fulfil its brand values of agility, innovativeness, simplicity and performance.
The company's commitment to a particularly high standard of training goes without saying. For example, HASCO cooperates very closely with the vocational training colleges in the region. In this way, it can be sure that all the important, state-of-the-art practical know-how is also included in the theoretical part of the training.
A reflection of this close coordination and cooperation was a recent training session for vocational teaching staff organised in-house by HASCO. As part of the one-day workshop on the use of standard mould units in tool and mould manufacture, some 40 vocational teachers from the fields of metal and plastics technology were given an insight into the latest technologies and processes in HASCO's own training centre.
After being welcomed in the morning by Axel Fehling, HASCO's regional sales manager for the west of Germany, the teachers first heard an interesting and informative program of lectures. The topics on the agenda were: An introduction to Lüdenscheid vocational college (BKT) – tasks, cooperation agreements, projects; Latest technologies in mould and tooling manufacture; Demoulding systems in practice – latch locking unit, two-stage ejector …; Important aspects of mould temperature control. Methods of temperature control and principles of the hot runner technology – VarioShot®: One nozzle – 1,000 possibilities. HASCO put together the program of lectures and organised it in cooperation with Lüdenscheid Vocational College and Lüdenscheid Plastics Institute.
At the joint lunch break, the vocational teachers – most of whom came from the surrounding region but also from the region of Thuringia in the eastern part of Germany – had an opportunity to exchange ideas and experience with their colleagues. The practical part of the workshop in the afternoon was particularly interesting. The participants were put into teams and given the task of solving a practical design assignment. After the final discussion, they had an opportunity to learn more about the HASCO company during a tour of the plant.
It was a successful day for all involved. After all, a close connection between theory and practice is essential when it comes to vocational training. The company, the colleges and the trainees all reap the benefits.
